Warehouse Receipting

REWA GRAINS is in the process of partnering with Uganda Commodity Exchange (U.C.E) and other partners to offer a warehouse receipting system. This allows farmers to deposit at least 10 tons gives them a warehouse receipt which the farmer may present to the participating banks for until when there are better prices in order to sell.

Through the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS), a pioneer system in Africa that links farmers, banks and the market in structured and formal manner, farmers and traders in Uganda can now deposit commodities in our warehouses, monitor market prices of those commodities and allow the warehouse receipt holder to access short term credit from the banks using a warehouse receipt as a loan security.

The system is fast gaining acceptance among grain farmers where they are depositing commodities in our warehouses upon which they are issued with a document of title warehouse receipt, and the farmer holding the receipt uses it apply for short term credit from Equity and Chase banks.
